African DanceBokandeye African American Dance Theatre Saturdays, 6-8p.m. Founded by Anthony Wooden, former dancer with Forces of Nature Taught by the Master drummer Le Roc Bey, and in operation for over 12 years, these African Dance classes are some of the best-found in Westchester. Boakandeye is a multi-talented performance troupe whose philosophy incorporates family, unity, peace, love and respect for all humankind. Dance classes are open to all individuals, ages 4-65 and welcomes dancers regardless of talent level. Beginners to advanced. All are welcome.
Hawaiian DanceTuesdays- 10-1 p.m. Free to Members of the YWCA Taught by the 88-year-old Master dancer, Ms. Lani Salmini, the program has operated for the last 40 years at the YWCA. Ms. Salmini teaches authentic hula dance for fun and performing. Besides the physical and health benefits of the class, Ms. Salmini provides a spiritual and cultural framework to understanding the significance of Hawaiian Dance and Hawaiian Family and culture.
Girl ScoutsFridays- 4-6 p.m. Girls Ages 10 and Up In a unique, all girl setting, girl scouts learn to explore their individual potential, develop leadership skills, learn how to cooperate and work with a team and explore the benefits of working with each other for the betterment of the community.
