Volunteer Opportunities
In line with the American tradition of volunteerism, the YWCA of Yonkers welcomes the participation of volunteers in our programs and services. The YWCA serves as a site for volunteers to freely give of their time and to share their expertise, bring cheer to senior citizens, make minor renovations to the building, help in our day-care programs or summer camp, work on our Newsletter and help with fundraising.

The YWCA serves as a site for students who want to gain practical work experience, and for welfare recipients who are in the workfare program and are transitioning from welfare to work. All interns and welfare to work volunteers receive help with resume preparation, job training, and access to job fairs and employment placement.

Our opportunities include:

Administration- work with the Administrative Staff to learn office and
computer skills

Child Development Center- assist teachers with instruction, become a
Day-Camp counselor, read to a child

Housing Program- become a mentor to a resident, help plan a program
event for the residents

Newsletter- help work on our quarterly Newsletter, "Women on the Move"
